Introduction

The founder came to Angle with a name, CHरN, and a conviction: that India deserved a sneaker brand of its own. No logo, no visual language, no system. Just a belief that Indian heritage could walk confidently on any street in the world. Angle's task was to build the entire brand identity from zero, covering strategy, mark, colour, typography, patterns, and packaging, and give that conviction something to stand on.

Drawing from India's architectural & textile geometry to build a mark that earns its roots.

The central challenge was grounding CHरN in Indian culture without making it feel folkloric or costume-like. We began with strategy, mapping the competitive landscape, defining positioning in India's emerging premium sneaker space, and identifying the audience CHरN was really speaking to. From there, the identity took shape around a single core motif: a geometric interlocking form drawn from Indian architectural traditions, including temple lattice screens, textile weaves, and sacred geometry. Built on a structured grid, the mark reads as simultaneously ancient and precise. The colour palette followed the same logic, with espresso, burnt orange, and creamy beige drawn from terracotta and aged wood rather than festive vibrancy. Every element of the system, from the primary mark to the secondary patterns to the packaging, derives from that same source. The shoebox isn't packaging that carries the brand. It is the brand.

Result

CHरN launched with an identity system that held across every touchpoint without needing explanation. The packaging, currently in use on every shipped pair, carries the full visual language: the motif scaled across the box lid, the wordmark on the face, the tagline running edge to edge. The shoebox became a recognisable object in its own right, and the brand had the foundation and the clarity to grow from.
